    AMC vs Dodge 727

I have found a 92 dodge 1 ton with a 360 and was wondering if the 727 would bolt up to the my existing 401.

I really want the truck for the axles (60 front) but scoring an overdrive tranny and dumping the QT would be a great score.

    Anyone know? Thanks.

No, the AMC 727 uses a integral AMC pattern bell housing, the Dodge has an integral MOPAR pattern.

Also if that Dodge has overdrive then it's not a 727. Probably a 518A. Still a no go without serious bell housing surgery. Can be done though. Do a search on here for it. Ristow made a bolt up 518A.

not to mention the 727 is not an OD transmission.

The ad says OD & 727 so I assume it's the 518. I am pretty sure I have read that thread before but I will dig it up again.

        Thanks for the input guys.

That's not to say that you couldn't find a amc 727 case and bolt it to your tcase w/ the tailshaft assy from your dodge and make it work that way,,right?

92 it should be a 518.. i t=read correctly and you have a th400Qt set up ?? find an "AMC" 727 and use the DODGE transfer case and be done.

or swap the whole drivetrain and have efi too
