Give us a little more information. The 360 and 401 from 79 down will inter
change. Putting the 401 in front of a 727 is a little different.

They should be the same between the 401 and 360 with the TH400.

Good point. What year is your vehicle and what year was the donor vehicle?

In FSJs, the AMC blocks and auto trannies are exactly the same externally from 1975 to 1979. The covers will fit. but they can be bent or warped. You might have to re-shape it a bit to get the bolt holes to align.

Before 1975 they used a different TH400. No experience with those.

After 1979 they used a TF727. TH400 covers wont fit, since the TF727 has a full circumference bellhousing.

In AMC cars in the same era they used TF727 trannies as well.

Just to clarify, AMC cars only used the Mopar trans from '72 up. They never got a TH400 but they did get Borg Warner auto '71 and earlier.
