the latches won't just swap, you would have to make them fit/work.
you'll have two rows of holes in door where the trim is.
the window regulator mount holes for yours will need to be drilled in correct locations.
you'll have holes from smaller side view mirror.
you'll need to prep and paint the door.
it will likely have same crack(s) under wing window?
waaaay easier & cheaper to just fix what you have.
Thanks Tony, that's exactly what I needed to know.
I've been trying to post photos but I keep getting error messages. If you take a look at my Introduction you'll see some photos of the interior.
Yeah, posting pictures is the second worst part of this forum. Second only to the "apostrophe bug". the apostrope bug is sometimes when posting (especially from apple products) it will cut everything off after the first apostrophe. There are few things in this world more than that.
I've noticed some threads come up about people having problems posting photo's to the site here. I have always found it pretty easy, but I figure I can show others (with pictures;) )how I do it, and maybe we can get some more pics of some kick ass Jeeps here! Generally, this process should work the same way from other 3rd party
Some other door information nuggets:
Like babywag mentioned, 79 is the change over year:
1) vent window style in the earlier doors is different. They will fit and work but the hinge and knob style look different
2) 78 and earlier have thicker window glass. I have a 78 window in my 79 drivers door and it is kind of a pain to roll up and down in my new window felts. Again, they will work but just keep that in mind.
Thanks rang. I decided not to buy that door. I'll fix mine when I get around to it.
Re the photos. I didn't use a hosting site yesterday when I got error messages. I had tried instead to upload a 150kb 600x800 photo from my PC, but the error message said I was 140kb over the limit, or something like that. So obviously a local upload wasn't going to work.
Does this mean I MUST use a hosting site? Which is fine. I can do that.
Ha, yes indeed. And I paid very little for this truck, mainly because it was barely hanging on. All it took was a little TLC.
So little in fact that the lady at the DMV didn't believe me, saying they were KBB average $12K. I looked at her and said, quietly, "Yes I know that. That's why I bought it."
She still wouldn't process my title until I got a supplemental affidavit from the seller. Which was an uncomfortable conversation - "Hey, the DMV thinks you sold me the truck too cheap, will you sign here?"
