Has anyone ever went to a full mechanical cable setup for the 228/229. I want to remove the vacuum and use the existing flag shifter for 2/4h/n/4l. I'm not concerned about the markings being wrong. I just don't want to rely on the vacuum. Can this be done by modifying the existing cable or brackets? It looks like the vacuum motor and the current cable both move the same lever on the xfer case. Can I make it so the cable has a longer stroke and does its current job and the vacuum motors job
