Amc 360 factory engine bay position

I have tried Google for this question but I think my info is a little too specific.

I bought my 80 Cherokee as a roller so I never had the factory 360 in my possession. It was originally a 360/727/219 equipped vehicle.

I am putting a different engine and drivetrain in. What I am trying to find is the position of the original trans to engine mating surface.

I'm dealing with components of different lengths than factory and trying to go ahead and plan out where I'm going to place everything, mainly how far forward or rearward I'm gonna mount the new engine.

If someone out there can pop unDer their rig and give me a measure meant from some constant point like the motor mounts at the frame or something I would greatly appreciate it.

All I need to know is where the back of the motor (tranny matting surface) would sit factory. That way I know where my transfer case will end up vs the stock. I have some adjustment in how I'm doing the motor mounts so I can move the engine forward or back some if need be.

Perfect. I'll have to crawl under with a tape measure tomorrow!

So it appears that in the pic that left is rearwards and right is to the front of the jeep. I measured to the center line of the holes covered by the bolt plate. So the holes not used in your pic

Yep that's what I was tracking cool. Now I know! Looks like I'm about 2 inches shorter than factory.
