His and Hers LS Swap Double Build

Long story short...I was building the wife an '89 GW (Woody #1) when a much better candidate (Woody#2) landed in my lap. The plan is to get #1 (his) driveable while #2 (hers) get's an LS swap, paint and all the goodies. Both are blue 89's.

EDIT:

Parts list: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8...LUVVR VJWNEhJ

Some things I will do differently on the second build (His) :
-Go with 3.73 gears instead of 3.54
-Rear mount gas tank instead of spending so much time making the stock tank work with a universal sender and intank pump
-Buy a motor/trans combo from a guy about 2hrs away who sells them turnkey instead of dealing with a donor truck. I couldn't use near as many parts as I thought I'd be able to and pricewise it was probably a wash.
-Go with a smaller fuel pump than the one linked. I had to wire an extra relay to handle the current.

Bad Rust on #1 rockers

New rockers from team grand wagoneer going in OK for my first time doing this. Made new inner panels from some steel shelving I had leftover from a project.

Also got new springs/tires installed. The Spring u-bolts all had to be cut. The install took several days, way longer than it shoudl have.

Trans is getting gone through by a buddy and not looking too bad

This guy can't be trusted in the house, so I have a new shop helper. Pulling the harness to have it converted.

OK Finally making some progress

Ready to pull the engine on Her's

I decided not to pull the front clip/rad support and realized I should have. So I improvised and cut the radiator support out. I'll weld it back in later. Dog agrees.

.

94 Degrees here in TN and I'm thankful for a/c in the shop!

Work continues on fuel lines. Steel lines with braided hose/AN fittings. Not a fan of compression fittings.
