    Chero project

So,,been laying a little bit lower here for a while. Waiting on the next project but that has happened and is progressing.

Picked up an 80 Chero that already had. a) aux tank, b) roof rack, c) 6in lift, d) edelbrock package, e) headman headers and new exhaust. Also, some custom bumper crap which I don't care for.

Anyway, this rig happens to be a Arizona/Nevada rig which is nearly rust free. As pics will show I did have to replace passenger floor.. Other than that a couple dents, gutted interior and we have a solid project progressing.

I have ordered and I am in the process of changing the 1310 ujoint/driveshaft assembly to 1330 CV shafts front and back. Angles kind of demand it.

Secondly and more important, the axles are getting these changes:
Dana 60, disc braked, ARB'd rear. Front 44 getting the outers changed to 8 hole. Not sure which locker yet but.....
Air system supplied by York and auxillary tank. Pics as follow...:[IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG]

Oh,,,I made it...Only needed the one so just cut out the floor, measured up about 1/2 in bigger around and formed it.

            Nice!

            What's the 60 out of?

              60

Kind of a long story. but..

I originally built it out of a 77 J20 rear 60. Put 30 spline ARB in it.

I had 2 sets of J20 axles sitting on my shop floor and figured out that the front rotors/ caliper bracket/ piston assemblies off of a D44HD would slide right onto the rear hub and spindle of the rear 60. All I really had to do was make a 3/4in spacer for each side to bolt the caliper assy to the 60 flange. Voila,,,,disc braked 60 which is exactly the width of the front D44 of the chero....Now I just have to finish getting a set of D44 8 hole outer hubs, etc. Ran out of parts.

Nonetheless, there are bigger pistoned'/ bigger rotored' assembly set ups out there than the D44 fronts but trust me. 4 of those rotor assy's will stop a 5Klb J20 like it has no inertia.

Anyway, paired w/ my York converted compressor, a 8ga air saddle tank, it makes for a great set up for a Jeep. This chero should end up riding on 37in beadlocked 16.5in tires, 3:73 gears(I know...kinda high) and ARBs front and back.
The driveshafts(my specialty) will end up being both 1330 series double cardan shafts against the D44/D60/NP208.....tough...tough.
The rear may ultimately end up 4 linked....just for fun.

do they mount to the factory points/brackets or are they one off custom mounting points. I kind of like them
