FSJs on Top Gear?

Went to a taping of the new Top Gear America show today. While coming into the parking lot at the old Marine Air Base, I saw a nice blue j-truck heading out. Once inside the studio, I was floored to see the rear bench seat out of a grand wagoneer being used as the couch for hosts and guest stars to sit on. It was a failry nice tan leather bench.

Pretty sure the truck belonged to either a fellow audience member or someone working on the park they are building. Went by way to quick for a picture.

They take your cell phones and cameras at the taping, so no shots of the bench, but it will be in HD in each episode on History channel.

Does this mean that I need to start hoarding wagoneer bench seats? Between the Hilfigers and Top Gear things are going to get pricey.

It is being taped at the old El Toro Marine Air base in Irvine. They tape the main videos all over and do the studio stuff and celebrity drives down in Irvine.

This link has info on when they are taping and how to get free tickets to watch.

http://www.on-camera-audiences.com/s.../216/Top_Gear/

The history channel promo I saw said coming soon, but one of the hosts mentioned November.

He spoke fondly of the Wagoneer when he asked if anyone knew where the seat was from. Only complaint he had was tracking down wiring issues.

I've been hooked on the Brit Top Gear for a few years now, not sure if I'll like this one or not.

Gonna be pretty hard to be Jeeza, Hamster, and Cpt Slow. Still think Brit Top Gear will be way better

Love the seat idea though

I reconised 2 of the three, one is Adam Ferria (SP) stand up commedian, and is on Rescue Me, he's OK, the other is Rutlege Wood or something like that, he's been on a bunch of NASCAR stuff on SPEED, he's kind of irritating.

The hosts aren't as funny. Even if you gave them British accents, they wouldn't be funny. :-(

It does not matter how good or bad the show is. The History channel will make ten episodes and run them for 3 years, then call it a failure because nobody's watching the same 10 shows after 3 years.

I have a feeling this US version will suck. The best parts of the original team are the camera shots, the dialogue and the banter / relationships between the 3 hosts. Here in the US, they are going to throw some NTAC's in as hosts because they are recognizable names. I figure two seasons at most (hope I'm wrong)
