    A/c in my Gladiator

This is a video of my truck running with a/c cycling. It shows the behavior of a healthy system. The fan in the truck is on high and the compressor cycles as it should. Truck has no carpet or headliner so no insulation. 83 degrees with low humidity. If you have any questions just ask. It's that time of year. Note: Do not turn the can upside down as is done in this video. Hitting the compressor with liquid is a no-no and is called (slugging). The can was empty or Austin would have received a memory knot from a dose of act right from me.

Thanks Thomas. I've had to do quite a bit of work to it but it was clean under the hood like that when I bought it from Carl.

The 134a cans I've seen say "hold can sideways and shake (or rock?) back and forth." That's what I've done w/ mine, is that correct? I sort of shake/rock so that it just kind of splashes the juice against the fitting until it's cold and empty in my hand.

Wrong. The can should never be turned upside down it will try to compress a liquid and we know you can't compress a liquid so don't do that as a lot of times it will take out the reed valves. My can was empty in the video. Charge with the gauges as I'm doing.

It's in the Glove box now. Super style. At the time of the video it was a later model Waggy unit.

The under dash unit is much better. It has a larger evaporator, more surface area. I would think that a Wagoneer would suck with one of these even with R-12.

Mine is similar but I'm missing the chrome bezel. My vents and controls are a different style.

Worked on my a/c over the summer after installing my new 350 chubby engine and ended up with this temp. I've removed the original evaporator and blower and installed an aftermarket dual blower evaporator behind the glove box a/c unit. I'm still in need of the chrome vent surround if anybody has a spare. Can't get the pic to embed so follow the link.

Submerge the cans in a bucket of hot water if you want it to charge faster.
