    FSJ picture thread

Got some cool pictures of Dad's 73' J4500 the other day, figured it would be cool to see some FSJ photography outside the build threads

I might get flamed for this, but in my memories from the late 70s and 80s they looked old even when they were new. The styling was just behind ford and chevy by at least a generation. That said they still looked way better than the dodge offerings one might see on a daily basis at the time. Throw in the corrosion issues (north east) and they acquired patina rapidly. My first car was a 79 CJ5.I got it in 87 or 88. Floors were gone, lower front fenders and the rear seams in the tub for the wheel wells were rusted through already. It wasn't even 10 years old....

However, perhaps the fleeting moments of when they were new is what keeps everyone on this board trying so hard to keep them going and bring them back.

I collected some of the major truck brands and piled them together for comparison. In 1963 I think jeep had the best style by far

              Versus 1978... Opinions?

I have a lot of fond memories with my Dad in that red 1973. It went like hell, we would drive in the ditches along the gravel roads even took her in the powerlines in the river valley,

I totally agree. I do like the 63 chevy's but I see them so often, they seem run-of-the-mill. The early Glads are just so beastly looking. The brow, the forward raked grill, soooo awesome.

The 78's are sweet too but I think I am just partial to FSJs. I think the 78 Ford is pretty righteous looking but again, man, that brow on the J10.... so awesome.

I absolutely like all of those '63 trucks, but the only one that looks like the chassis is wearing a perfectly tailored suit is the Jeep. The rest look like they rolled out of Roger Stone's closet .

Awesome Jeeps! The brow is a huge factor in the styling. Too bad they took it out later the muscle grill would have looked quite cool with it.

                          Such an aggressive stance
