    amc 360 vs. dodge 360

Ok, I'm sure that they are not the same beasts, but are they similar enough to swap a 1990 Dodge 360 motor in place of my 1989 grand wagoneer's amc 360? will the 727 trans and np229 transfer case all bolt up just the same?

Nope, totally different. All they share is the displacement.

You would have to use a Dodge tranny as the Jeep is Jeep specific. Check out cu4whln's thread. He did a Hemi...

What's wrong with the original 360? Even if it's blown, good running AMC 360s cost next to nothing, and everything will bolt back up and electrical will match as well.

You ucan put a dodge 360 with a dodge 727 and a dodge 208, if you have them available.

They use the same lifters if that helps .

somewhat off topic, but i think the people (theres a bunch of them) who say that a mopar 360 is the same as an amc must have never seen either one. i mean the mopar dist. is on the back of the motor how could it ever be the same

back on topic...i think if someone where to put the drivetrain that came in the 5.9 98 zj's minus the t-case that would probably be a good swap, but a whole lot of work.

Can you tell me where that is true, because in the land of Lincoln, I've been having a hard time finding an AMC 360.

We all know that Jeep used Ford 360's, just look at the distributor and carburetor, all Ford parts, anyone tells you it is a Mopar is full of it !

Makes you wonder. Did Jeep ever build a complete vehicle without using another manufacturers parts?
