Fine metal in frt diff oil..

I was draining the diff oil from my front d44 that has a Tru Trac. I noticed fine metal filings reflecting as the oil drained. I held my little magnet in the oil and picked up very fine filings.
As this is the first time I changed the oil since last March I perhaps think it may be just normal wear from a limited slip type diff? The first oil change was the 500 mile break in change. I am running 80-90 Royal Purple full syn in the frt as well.
Any ideas on what it may be? Any ideas on whether I should be panicking?

Did you run regular oil in it for the "break in"? Did you drive accordingly as if you had a new motor/tranny/diff? If you broke it in with synthetic it will tak MUCH longer for it to break in. I'd think your locker is still getting worked in since you have so few miles on it. I myself wouldnt worry about it.

    Edit: Got pic's?

Kaiser, whewww, that is what I like to hear. I did break it in with full synthetic, so if it is still breaking in then that is great. I just refilled it this morning with full synthetic.
Now that makes me ask, do guys think regular 80w90 is a better bet for diff's, limited, lockers etc or do you think synthetic is best? Or again is it just spending good money (on synthetic) for nothing?

In your rear diff? Definitely worth it, but would also definitely break it in with dino oil. Remember that the break in for diffs is the same as for a new engine. Learned this the hard way (shattered my Currie 35 spline 9" back in high school...was an UGLY mess) just because I didnt do it right.
As long as they were fine you should be good as its normal. What you dont want are teeth falling out. So Ive heard.
