Carb spacer
I'm trying out my spare carb today. All it had when installed on the truck was a spacer block. Herc has a gasket and 2 spacer blocks. I'm gonna try to put the carb on with just the spacer block and see if I have any problems. Is that going to work?

it shouldwork fine with just the insulated spacer. one of them is probably a carb spacer (designed to and more power depending on if its a 4 hole or single hole) that someone added on and the other is an insulated spacer (to keep the carb from getting hot from the engine).

I discovered that it won't work without both gaskets and the insulator. The carb to insulator gasket alone isn't thick enough. The nuts that hold the carb down shank out on the studs about 1/2" before they get to the carb. I just ordered a new insulator from BJ's and the 2 gaskets from Checker. $$$

... You could put one size larger nut on the studs like washers so the nuts can be tightened. The studs just screw in and you should be able to get shorter ones at a good hardware store or parts house. Been there, done that..
Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..
Corn Ethanol: Our government is hoodwinking Americans and making a few people rich. We have a 50 cent per gallon tariff against importing ethanol and subsidize our ethanol refiners 54 cents per gallon with our tax dollars. And using Corn Ethanol is driving food prices up! Another case where lobbyists make the laws!
