TF 727 Valve Body

OK, so I removed the pan and the Valve Body and found nothing that looked like metal shards, shrapnel or shavings.(that's good right?)
Then I disassembled the Valve Body looking for anything that could cause blockage or prevent normal operation of its many parts. Again I found nothing that jumped out as problem.
But as I reassembled I noticed this...
It appears to be a groove worn in by the ball traveling back and forth and is just barely noticeable on the back side. Could this be causing the slipping issue I've been troubled with?

And then there is this little guy...

Can someone tell me where in the Valve Body this piece goes? It is about 3/8" long and 1/4" diameter. I did not see where it came from, I blinked and it was sitting there. I'd like to install the Valve Body tomorrow, but not til this piece finds its way home.

The wear on the plate should be fine.

That piece looks like regulator valve line pressure plug.

Ah, yes it does!
now I can finish reassembly and move on to pressure checks and band adjustments.
Thanks a ton.

Do you happen to know the torque specs for the Valve Body assembly?

No worries man...I've got a lot of good advice/info from this forum and it's always good to give a little back when I can.

The torque is 35 inch lbs on those screws.

How did the pressure check go on the clutches?

The pressure check provided a mild but decent "thunk" when I applied air to the first hole. the second hole was less than mild, more of a "hiss-tad" sound. It did not matter if I applied a quick burst or air or a slow one, got the same weak sound either way.

Can it be rebuilt in place, or does it need to be totally removed?

Also, how can I be sure all the channels in the Valve Body have filed with fluid? Is there a procedure for this?

Well at least the clutches aren't frozen/stuck/jammed.

I'm assuming that all of the valves in the valve body were okay? (not jammed/stuck/etc)

It will need to be pulled to overhaul it...but if it were me and it worked fine prior to the filter/fluid change...I'd get the book and do some pressure testing.

The valve body will fill on its own.

I got everything put back together, filled with fluid and warmed up. But now it is worse than before. I may have mixed up a spring or two or ???
Now it will not move forward or reverse, yet it still wants to move forward(just barely) when in P, N, & R.

Please tell me more about "pressure testing" what would I be testing and what would I be looking for or trying to determine?
My Chilton(#5974 covers 1964-71) has details on presure checking the 727 but I have not read thru that part yet. It should be the same as my '83, right?
Is that TF727 book new? Why have I not seen it before? Why do I not already have it?

Ouch...well that stinks.

You'll need the book for the pressure checks...they're rather indepth.
