Anyone heard of a Dodge Omni GLHS? Check it out

So I walking through my local wrecking yard and I happen across this poor guy:

If you are not familiar with an Omni GLHS, google it. They are Carroll Shelby designed cars and were faster than Corvette and Mustang when they were built. They also built almost none of them. I have never actually seen one in person until then and was totally shocked to see this one in the wrecking yard. The intercooler and engine were still there but the turbo was gone. If the yard was not closing as I walked by, I would have considered buying it from them.

my dad has had dealer licenses since the early 80's
he bought and sold a regular dodge omni to a local mechanic for his daughter to drive

...he always bragged on how tuff it was.
she got a lot of miles out of it.

they are odd looking but must have been built fairly well.
have not thought of those cars in years.

I have heard of these but don't think I've ever seen one in person. They are cool in their own way. My wife would tell me I get hung up on cars like this, as I bought the SRT4 Neon for the same reason. Neon=Not Cool, SRT4 Neon=Cool at least in my head . That being said not sure if I'd want one but would love to drive one.

Have a similar feeling about the Cosworth Chevy Vega, which I have seen in a junk yard in Portland OR, it was mint too, as the yard had fixed it up to sell!

I read this site almost daily, because of my age:

The Dodge Omni/Plymouth Horizon twins didn’t get much respect in the 1980s, and even today’s hipsters – who’ll cling to anything avante-garde or ironic – failed to bestow them with latter-day reverence.Well, never mind the haters. If you’re in Monterey, California on Aug. 19, and you have a hankering to spend a seemingly ludicrous amount of money on a 30-year-old econobox, your day has come.RM Sotheby’s plans to auction a 1986 Dodge Omni GLH…

Fun fact. AMC built Omni-rizons and K cars for Chyrsler at the Kenosha plant under contract before the plant was closed.

            storehouse of useless knowledge.

That is pretty cool! Crazy to me that they think that it will go for $40,000-$60,000 at auction!

My buddy here has one, plus had some 80s Shelby Chargers back in high school. His cousin has an 87 Charger still in his garage to this day. They were pretty decent cars back then, but by no means fast.

Part of my postIng pictures process involves using a website to create a link from my google drive. On that website it now says
In fact, after 8 years of providing this service, in January 2020 Google started blocking the manner in which we determined if files still existed, causing us to mark countless files as "deleted in Google Drive." As a result, we are no longer able to determine if files are deleted or have become private in Google Drive, so links to any such files will just land visitors at some kind of Google error page henceforth
Great. I thought I had a good reliable posting process. Guess not.
