Remove Idle Mixture Screw Covers on 87 GW MC 2150 Carb

Like the title of the post says. I'm sure I can get them off through brute force, but they kind of look like if you just know the right way to squeeze them they might just come out easily. Has anybody got them to come off easily? If not, what's a good way to get them off, hopefully while the carb is still on the engine?

I just drill a hole in them and pry them out.

Nah, they are not meant to come off easily. They prevent emissions "tampering." In the day, techs would get new ones if the idle mixture needed adjustment. Just break them and adjust to "best lean idle." IIRC new caps used to come with the rebuild kit - maybe they still do.

Don't bend the idle screw - I'd get in there with my cutters and nip at them until they come off.
