Mine has no bushing between seletor lever bracket and the lever.
or the lever bracket is wrong mounted . Frontside with bushing to backside..

Maybe to much clearance without guidance here...

and what is the green round part withe the red wire??

That is the correct fuse panel for the truck, as far as the green part, not factory( looks real scary) but is some sort of resistor? What do the wires go to? You need to repair or replace the set up from a generic wiring harness or a specific replacement, both are available. Still thats not the worst I have seen....

79 "should" have blade style fuses but Jeep changed a bunch of minor things that year. yours may have been a very early build?
or someone could have swapped/replaced it?

                        square headlights?
does it have 3 piece bumpers or 1 piece?
are the latches on the doors weird flat "u" shape?

That's the date sold, not the build date.
For US built vehicles model year changeover on the assembly line is generally in July so yours could have been built anywhere between xxJUL78-FEB79 and often previous model year parts were installed in the early days depending on parts inventory.

That will be a 78' most likely and the fuse panel would be correct. you can clean up the fuse block and purchase the correct fuses for it and it will be good or change out to the later style with the ato/blade fuses which will make it easier to find replacements, its up to you. ( fix the wiring no matter what!)
