Did the 1980 Cherokee come with QT?

The 3rd digit in the VIN is an E which means....

Auto-LHD-Full Time 4WD

Is that QuadraTrac or SelecTrac?

What does the LHD or RHD mean?

most likely has a np219, which they called a quadra trac but form what I have read it does'nt have much in common with the traditional BW QT.
That said that's what I have and I love it, of course I live where it is snowy/icey 6mo. out of the year.

Yup it's "called" a QT but it was a marketing thing done by AMC to hopefully sell their 1980-82 rigs on the reputation of the previous "original" Borg-Warner QT. Yours is as said above the np219 tcase. Not remotely related to the original Borg-Warner QT(73-79). The 219 isn't a bad tcase but not near as tough as the BW tcase. When you see posts about the "QT" they usually refer to the more common earlier BW QT. It was used for 7 years where the np219 was used for 3.

So in decoding the VIN, it refers to LHD-Full Time 4WD. What does LHD stand for?

Left Hand Drive, unlike our British and Australian cousins who use Right Hand Drive.
