    Door lock springs

When I obtained my FSJ the door lock springs were missing, meaning that the door lock would fall down on it's own unless it was kept up. I originally ordered the BJ's replacements and found that they were way too stiff, but they worked.

Eventually I added in some cheap electric door lock motors, but with the stiff springs sometimes they wouldn't unlock my doors. So I just took the BJ's door lock springs out and now the door lock motors hold the lock open or closed just fine.

So if you're using an electric door locks, you probably won't need the original door lock springs, or so I've found

yes, i had to remove my passenger side front door spring
cause the original lock actuator would not unlock it.

    on the driver side
    the spring was gone
but lock would fall down sometimes and lock me out.

on that one i used the rubber grommet trick
it has just enuff "grab" or friction
    to keep it from falling
but it still locks and unlocks fine.

I had the same problem with bjs springs being too stiff. Ruined my actuator. They told me they have many happy customers and never resolved the issue and still sell them.

      What's the rubber grommet trick?

        grommet trick.

it was on a write up here somewhere.

un screw the plastic chrome lock tip

carry it to the hardware store,

go the the rubber grommet section,

find the one that semi snuggly slides over the door lock knob shaft

and that the outer diameter is the correct size that also fits in the hole

on the top woodgrain area of door panel.

it will allow the knob to slide up and down with power of actuator

but prevents it slipping down and doing the phantom lock thing,...

buy a few diff sizes to try on your wagoneer or FSJ

i never learned to post pics here

so if you need photos of mine, email me at [email protected]

I think I got it thanks! I'll just remove all springs when I can get around to fix it soon.
