Good Morning all! I live in Oregon and last week I picked up a 1971 Wagoneer with the 360 & manual transmission. I have read some brief history regarding AMC's purchase of the company in 1970 and the limited info available regarding Serial #'s and the options during this transition.
This truck has (2) sets of serial#'s...one on a metal tag screwed to the A-pillar and the other is a yellow sticker on the B-Pillar. They both decode as 1971 360 wagons...and the serial and build numbers are close but not exact.
On metal tag: 1414039 602643
On Yellow Sticker: 1414019 601643
I read a discussion on here and someone reference having both "Tags"(Metal & Yellow).
Can anyone shed some light on this? is it normal to have (2) tags? Is am also trying to figure out original paint and interior color.....Should there be a tag on the truck somewhere with this info as well? The original color looks top be a mint green under the darker green it has been painted.
Thank you ahead of time for your help!
Michael
