My long-time Jeep mechanic/friend has moved to Spokane. So I got a reference to a shop in Chatsworth that has worked out well so far. I had this new shop build a manual trans tilt steering column to replace the 'auto on the tree' style.
He built the new tilt column - new lock - and painted it in Nutmeg and did a great install. I had the steering-lock mechanisim defeated at the same time (useless crud). Even all the electrical stuff still works too. Note: I have lots of stuff under the dash that I've added over the years. That in it self is a minor miracle with these FSJ things.
I fabricated a rear sway bar setup (with links like the front bar uses) that he'll weld in soon. Once I get it in, I'll convert the links to a quick-disconnect type.
He knows how to fabricate stuff too. He widened a Cherokee to something like a Humvee in width. The hood, roof interior, grille and everything else has been sectioned from two Jeeps to make one wide one. I used to see this thing when I drove to a job I had nearby several years ago. I often wondered who owned it. Now I know.
