What is the original tire size for 79 J20

I have some of the drivetrain from a 1979 Jeep J20. The vehicle belonged to my uncle, it rotted away, frame broke, was repaired, came apart again. Anyway, I ended up with some of the parts and was wondering what the original tire size was. The axles are 8 lug, dana 44 front, dana 60 rear.

    Thanks for your help

    8.75 x 16.5 or 9.50 x 16.5

        OLD THREAD REVIVAL

What is the modern day equivalent to the stock tire size?

Being that the 16.5" tire selection is very thin, I'd imagine that the 16" rim would be the typical replacement, with the 17" as.a.close 2nd choice.

LT245/75R16 is almost the exact same size as a 9.50-16.5. Under .2" difference in height and width.

Not sure what the metric equivalent of an 8.75-16.5 is.
