Turn Signal Switch Woes

So in the couple short weeks that I had to drive the Muck Duck, the turn signals were very intermittent at best.
Then when I parked the old girl for the engine rebuild I pulled the AC unit out, and saw this at the turn signal switch connection.

So I decided to investigate a little. Separated the wires out of this

and I thought to my selfOH NO THIS WILL NEVER DO!
So I started delving in to the column and BOY! am I ever glad I did.
This is what was up near the switch:

Has anyone else ever found this in their FSJs?

I have been going trough the rest of the under dash wires, and they all look pretty good, not to mention it is VERY unmolested under there too.

Also since I had it all apart I figured now was a good time for a change.

Teaser in this pic too!
