Thank you fsj, I run into something I don't have or can't get, I'll let you know.

I'll try to get caught up with the pics also. The interior thing is going to be a shot in the dark to find out what works.

The knuckle heads at ATT are still trying to find my internet/TV problem. I went away for 3 days fishing and the wife had no TV. Had internet when I got back, but no TV.

Apparently I was wrong. Right after my last post, internet crashed. Luckily ATT trucks showed up today and rewired the pole across the street and everything works again. Yippee.

While I had the tailgate off I decided to paint the sill to match the new carpet when it gets in.

Next was to fix that golf ball size rust hole in the right rear quarter. Went over to the 82 wag and cut the piece out and welded it in. It was right in the middle of the body line and I didn't want to make it. I stink at body work and paint but I finally got it done. On my last coat out of the rattle can, I sprayed it out of a different can and of coarse the tip was messed up and it came out in a straight stream Got a nice run in the top right corner. I'll deal with it later.

During the paint mess I finally found some seats that weren't to difficult to convert over to the Waggy bases. They are out of a 2007 Chevy HHR. They are pretty comfy. And they had arm rest.

          IMG_20190518_094142404 by , on Flickr

Had to make some post to weld in the front part. Welded a 3/8 nut into a piece of pipe and welded that to the HHR seat frame.

          IMG_20190518_094133399 by , on Flickr

Luckily the passenger HHR seat had a tab already there so I just made a tab off of the Wag bases to bolt them together. All the bolts are easily accessible to remove the seats from the bases.

Managed to get the dash painted black to start the color change.
Other things started on is tearing apart all the doors and windows to put all new weatherstrips and seals in and I started my wiring spaghetti mess. More on that later. Got a lot to do but at least I'm back at it. Got a million things happening at once.

While I was rebuilding the tail gate I got the bright idea to make it work with a keyless remote like others have done here but I went a different route. Also while reading a post here somewhere I remember something about the little dome in the overhead console on Wags with keyles entry. I happen to look up one day working on it and I saw the little dome. Tore the overhead console out and sure enough, it was there. Next I had to find the relays that they were attached to. I found their general location but didn't see them until I tore out the A/C unit. Holy cow, who in the world would mount relays at the top of the dash, above the A/C way to the right of the glove box.

I was not going to leave them there so I cut the wires and pulled them out of the factory harness and relocated them to the area where the center console will be located for easy access. Figured as long as it has the keyless entry already wired up I would rewire the tail gate window to be keyless also.

Because the dash rear window switch had 2 grounds to run the motor both ways, I had to extend the motor and ground wires to the center console from the dash switch and not use the original dash switch in the system. I got a relay system for an outboard trim system that does the same thing, run a motor 2 directions. Hooked up the ground from tailgate to keep it in the loop just in case and hooked the 2 motor wires to the relay system. Going to run 2 more wires back to the original dash switch location to operate the rear window relays also.

Ordered a 4 channel wireless remote system and connected the door locks and the rear window relays to the remote receiver and somehow it all worked.

The fuse panel in the pic is the one I had temporarily mounted under the hood. Decided to put it the center console also. The wires to the fuse panel are the original jeep wire that ran to the battery. I found them burn't on the passenger side during the engine bay work. Looked like they had fell down on the exhaust at some time.

It is going to be a challenge to make a center console that will hold all the goodies I have planned for. Not to mention I have to hide a stereo amp in there somewhere.

When I pulled the A/C, I found this. Anybody think this might be a problem or just put it back in

I figured she was going to be a little dirty but holy cow. Should feel like a jet blower coming out after the replacement. I already have the replacement A/C stuff here.

For some reason, it had a mixture of dealer/factory installed A/C parts. Hard to believe an 89 had dealer installed A/C. Maybe it got switched out at some point.

Thank you sir. I almost forgot to mention that I did the Durango rear wiper motor conversion in the tail gate. It was simple cause I just read everyone else's job on here. Hardest part was making the bracket to control the rotation. Works perfect. Used the Durango arm, shortened and bent it to match the original. Ive done so much lately, I forgot.

I have decided to go with the Dakota Digital Dash made for the GW. It fits nicely in the factory hole. I almost went the full custom route to make a dash to fit the factory spot but knew it would be a lot of work. And honestly, it would not have been cheaper. Silver gauges with blue back lighting.

Other things to go with the dash:

Got the additional sender for the trans temp. It will show up in the tach message center.

Since the little woman yacks about not knowing what gear she was in, I got the shifter sender to make the gear selection show up in the speedo message center.

Also ordered Dakota's cruise control set up to have cruise control.

Another huge problem is the dreaded crappy dash pad. I decided to paint it with vinyl paint cause I figured I had nothing to loose. It actually turned out good but it has a couple things that I have tried to fix but couldn't. Notice the bumps in front of the defrost vents and the curled up bottom right corner. I have noticed several others that have the defrost humps. Just nothing I could do to get them straightened out. The longer it sat, the more they warped up. Going to try something else I guess.

After not being successful with getting the dash pad straight on it's own, I decided to force it to see it my way. I went again to my friends shop and snooped around till I found this aluminum mesh. Cut it to the length of the defroster slots and put a slight bend in it to hold down the pad when the dash pad is slid into place. Painted them flat black to not put a glare on the windshield. You can't actually see them except thru the windshield.

As far as the curled up bottom right corner, just made a trim piece to hide it. Formed it to the shape of the pad and put pem-studs in it so it can be bolted down to the metal dash next to where the factory pad holes are.

I have also started the console and am trying to get something to hold all the electrical gizmos that come with the Dakota gauges and the extra relays and keyless entry stuff. And hopefully look ok. And it has to go over 2 shifters. And hold a stereo amp.

I also got the dash pieces back from the wrap guy and the black/grey color scheme turned into black with a blue-ish grey-ish color. I think I like it better.
Good news is, it is not really permanent. Can be changed later if need be. The blue color matches the blue back lighting in the gauges. Close enough anyway.

Here is the some of the wiring added.

Goal is to be able to access the wiring and all the systems if a problem arises. Going to be a lot going on in there.

                              IMG_20190603_190115013 by ,

This is for the wife, of coarse. The sender for the gear indicator that will show up on the dash. When you change gears, the selection shows up on the speedo message center.

Also have the 4x4 sender in the t-case wired into the gauges so when you shift into 4x4, it shows up in the gauges.

Hopefully will get a lot done this weekend.

                                Nice work!

I like the Dakota Digital products but man, the wiring is a cluster. Lol. It's nice in that you have less wiring behind the gauges but all that wiring has to go somewhere. I ended up with Speedhut to eliminate the "control unit" for the gauges but that just means more wiring in the dash. Either way, wires...

                                Having the dash wrapped......hmmm.
1974 Cherokee S. It's driving but needs more work. As usual!
