84' waggy, can I replace fuel tank check valve grommet in-situ?

I have restored my 84' jeep GW. I must have missed the fuel check valve grommet and now for the first time I filled up the tank completely and it's leaking.

Knowing how difficult it is to remove the tank (I have the aftermarket Team Grand Wagoneer fuel tank metal surround) is there a way to do this in-situ or maybe just sag the tank box a little?

I was curious if anyone else has tried this and what their results were.

Thank you in advance for any help!

You can get to the main fuel sender/pickup location to see if it is leaking, before dropping the tank. Flip up the back seat, under the carpet on the driver's side is a round cover with 4 rivets. Drill out the rivets (carefully, the tank is only about an inch below the sheet metal) then gently pry the cover off. It is sealed by butyl tape, very very sticky stuff. The sender/pickup is directly under it. You can check that first. If that is not the problem then you will have to drop the tank, but at least you can remove the fuel lines and sender wire before you do. Use some short sheet metal screws to secure the cover.
