    New to IFSJA: '79 Cherokee

Picked-up this '79 this fall. '78 grill. 360, 4-speed. Will be working on this summer. Best source for replacement parts other than finding a parts Chief?

    Then Rockauto:

    Then Amazon
    Then Ebay

You sure that's a 79? Has a 78 and down grill and hood, 78 Chief stripe (on the passenger side), and black around the back window. In 79 The stripe moved up, the back window surround was body color, and they had the pignose grill... All that could have been changed but your rig looks like a 78 to me...

Either way, its a sweet starting spot! We're looking forward to seeing you work on it.

Yep, it's a '79. Double checked the title. I prefer the round head lights of the pre-'79, so when I stumbled across this one, I had to dig into it. Guessing that at some point there was some damage to the front end, and a prior owner either wanted the round look too or found a pre-'79 on the scrap heap for parts.

It has a few layers of paint, the most recent of which was not prepped properly and is bubbling/flaking off. The lower stripe you think you see is Rhino-liner running the full length of the rig, the wheel wells, and the rear floor of the Chief.

The tailgate rust to pretty bad, floor pans have a 2" hole, both doors have some small rust showing. Wheels wells are good, along with the other panels (as far as I know).

Short term: adjust/swap the carb to get it running 'right', new door seals, and hopefully find a parts Chief with good tailgate and other bits.
