    Car Trailer to haul J4000

There's an outside chance that we'll trade the wife's car in for a truck that can haul the J4000 on a trailer, but then I'd need to get a trailer. What should I look for in a trailer than can haul a J4000? How long would it need to be? I figure as long as the wheels are on the trailer and the weight distrobution is about 60/40 to the front of the trailer I should be good but am I missing anything?

Lots of car trailers are too narrow and your tires hit on the fender wells even with stock tires....

I just hauled my j10 on a standard car hauler. It was 83" between the fenders and my 35/16 boggers on off set wheels rubed a little bit one both sides. pulled just fine with the 5.9L awd and 3.92 posi. I think 83" is a common width. Or you could build fenders that can either be driven on or lift up out of the way on a hinge.

I bought a Big Tex CH70 for my Jeeps.Plenty wide with a stock Honcho on it. IIRC about 6" to spare between the fenders. Nice trailer. As much as I use it I wish I would of bought the bigger trailer now. If I buy another it will be a 10 or 12,000 lb trailer. But I have used my CH70 for cross country hauls, loaded with a J10 once and the other time was a Chero. Lots of 1000 miles and under trips loaded, many times now with no issues at all.

1985 J10 nothing special just a nice clean stock truck.
1977 Honcho "Blue" 401/400/quad. Under going major upgrades.."This is Not Your Fathers Honcho", it may not even be a Honcho anymore when done.

I haul my J on an 18' trailer that I believe is 85" wide, I like the longer trailer, but a 16' should work fine,

If you have the $$$, look at the aluminum trailers. Featherlite makes nice ones. About $5K, however!!! I can't see spending that much on a trailer right how when I can buy a REALLY nice FSJ for that price!

swb, the trailer was 16 i think. plenty of room front and rear. just could have been a little wider.
