Has anyone seen/done any sort of rear drum to disc swap with any success? I know Ch--- guys can rob parts for a rear conversion from caddies or something like that but what about a cheap swap for Dana 44s or 60s?

One of our friend's has a CJ5 with Wagoneer axels on it (6 bolt). He used the front disks and calipers from another Wag front end to fab rear discs on the CJ that work pretty well...

Blt2crl did the convertion for about $200. New rotors, calipers, ect. If you do a search I think he explains it some where.

for the model 20 I was given the following info:

You would use the 2460 conversion. It is $249.95 for brackets, rotors
and
bolts.
We also have calipers and flex lines. If yours is the narrow track you
can't
use
the parking brake calipers because the lever is too close to the frame.

You can find a good conversion from TSJ in back of most 4X4 mags I did myself 85 j10 Dana 44 kit cost about 200 simple install maybe took an 1hour total, had the big items off already,all you need will be simple shop tool's, Oh and I bought my calipers from the auto parts store, save's you a little, and if you need emergency brake , get ready to dig deeper in the pocket, so I opted for a line lock device saved me about 400.00

get 2 part # 049-a
get 2 front 80s FSJ calipers, the slider bolts, and some rotors from a 97 Chevy tahoe.

No E brake ( the caddy E brakes dont work well anyway)

under $200, load the calipers, bolt them to the brackets, and apply air pressure to teh caliper to clamp it square on the rotor and then you can tack weld the bracket in the proper place on the axle tube, or you can spend $100 more and get some bolt on brackets from various sources, or make your own, the AA brackets are $6.50 each

youll need to cut the center section out of the brake backing plate, and use it still as a bearing retainer, housing cap.

A good thing to keep in mind though...if you have no e-brake, you will be unable to ride on almost all sponsored trails, or private trails with inspections. I believe a working e-brake was a requirement of our gathering at Ouray as well.

Good point Sitting Bull. I think though a line lock is a way around that not sure though.
