    ARIZONA Four Peaks Run/Camp - SATURDAY, August 2nd - 2008

    Hey folks,
Were going to make a run to Four Peaks this Saturday August 2nd.

    Details:
Leave at 8:00am Saturday, travel to Four Peaks (about 4 miles beyond Four Peaks), spend the night and come home Sunday around 11:00am.

    Meeting Place:
    7:30 am
    My House
    XXXXX

    or

    8:30 am
Entrance to Four Peaks. You can travel up Highway 87 (Beeline Highway) from the Shea Boulevard intersection, pulling off the highway at Four Peaks Road (FR 143) (east) on the right side (between mile marker 203 and 204). Take the dirt road less than a 1/4 mile to the restrooms and parking area.

We will be leaving promptly at 9:00 am from the parking/staging area.

    The following members are confirmed:
    - Willie (Mike)
    - Stilrunz (Derek)
    - Jsinajeep (Jerry)

It's about 18.2 miles from the staging area to FSR 648 (FSR 648 is the turn-off to the hikers parking lot once you reach the top of 4 peaks). Though the road is passable by passenger car, there can often be rough areas. We will travel about 4 miles beyond FSR 648 to our campsite, you will need 4 wheel drive at this point. Also be prepared in the summer (July and August is desert monsoon season) for the possibility of a lightning storm. . No permits are necessary to hike or camp in the wilderness area.

    Markers:
0 Reset your odometer when you turn right off of Highway 87, head east on wide dirt road labeled FSR 143
.7 Vault toilet and parking on right side of road (staging area)
    1.4 Go straight
2.1 Swing left staying on FSR 143, ignore many small side roads
    4.3 Bear left
    10.1 Small water crossing possible
    10.6 Turn right
11.1 Continue past Cline Hiking Trailhead. Climb over ridge as 4 peaks comes back into view
13.7 Bear right after small stream (it might be dry)
15.3 Continue straight past Mud Spring Trailhead
18.2 We've reached the highest point of trailhead at this point. FSR 648 goes right to hiking trailhead to four peaks wildnerness. We will bypass this road and continue on approximately 4 miles to campsite.

It's the '90's, don't post that up in open forum.
The spambot's will devour that info.

Hope you all had fun and can do 'Cruces in October.
