    Body Swap

Back to playing with an idea (like I need more projects) Has anyone swapped a NT 2 door Cherokee onto another non-jeep, non 4x4 frame and drive train? I forgot who in here has a drag Cherokee, love it! but that is a WT. Could even be something with a shorter wheel base if needed.

    thanks for the input.

Have thought about this too... I think I TJ chassis would be a good candidate. Track is 58.5

Its very easy to extend those.. have done that before.

The only difference between a WT and a NT body is the flares and wheel well openings. That drag Cherokee sits on a C10 chassis. If a WT body fits on it, a NT will too.

right rang-a-stang bodies are the same. maybe need to go through that post and see how he mounted it or cut the frame. What i would really live to do is find a FSJ non 4x4 front axle!

Maybe a Crown Vickie frame? I know the Ford guys use them for everything, they are all over the wrecking yards, and they are front engine, rear wheel drive, 4 wheel discs, 8.8 inch rear

Might look for old beam axle from a 50's truck, would be the easiest if keeping the leaf springs. Don't know about width.
Another option would be to graft in the front frame section from an "A" arm or torsion bar C-10. Stay away from the newer ones, they are hydro formed and don't take well to welding. Not supposed to get them over 1200* on repairs or pulls.

bring this back up. Its not gonna happen anytime soon, but. Been thinking of what rang-a-stang said. I have a 72 Ford f-250 and right, a short wheel base ford tuck fits right on the vic frame.

So, if I can find a Chief or Wag maybe rusted roof (want to make a convertible) and rusted out floorboards, I can swap that onto a vic frame. Need to also find a good running crown vic for the swap. Actually had two Chiefs, one being the prefect candidate but sold em so we could move

Crown vic wheel base, 114.4-7 depending on the year, 99 and newer, width is
78.2", less wheel to wheel. So a Chief or Wag/Cherokee would fit, with modification, and removing 6" from vic frame and shorting the drive shaft and some other stuff.

So very doable for a different cruzer

Or you could buy my 64 2wd Wag for the special drag/wag build price of $900. There is a small issue...it's in Canada.

Levelhead ,im just curious but is the 64' 2wd wagoneer one with ifs ?

My Dad had a 63' 2wd with ifs that he put a Nissan 6 cylinder diesel engine under the hood.

level head that's tempting, Canada don't scare me. I was thinking crown vic just for the newer, what I call "tuna boat" suspension. The only thing Jeep would be the body, everything else, crown vic, even the dash, if possible.

Like to find something with a rusting roof so no heartache when removing it. Also, if most of the floorboards are gone, makes it that much more easier to graft it on the the vic floor boards.

Would like a working tailgate window though. It wont be in the tail gate but behind the rear seat to rise up for a wind deflector, it would only need to rise a little bit.

Like in the pic if you all can see it, I would like to take some of the roof and make it a trunk lid/bed cover.

Like I stated, not really any time soon, but it is a plan.

Heep Yes its ifs. Funky setup with 2 Large tubes leading to large accordian boots (like giant cv boots) but definitely rear wheel drive.

Yes it's exactly like the one my Dad had back in 03/04
He did a complete rebuild and paint job on the wagoneer and put a Nissan LD28 diesel engine it it. (Did not have a engine and transmission when he got it)

It was impossible to find the accordion rubber boots for the front knuckle areas , so he made some from rubber accordion boots out of the food industry that we got through a friend of my brother.
It was not a perfect solution , but did the job till he sold the wagoneer because it was time to start on another project.
