TFI Question

I know, there is plenty to read about this. I just have a couple of questions.

I did most of what is called the TFI setup on my CJ7 with my 258 except for the Ford e-coil, the larger cap/rotor, better wires, gap to .45.

I read for the first time about this resistor stuff and I went to check the CJ7.

1st question: I tested the positive side of the coil in the on position, battery 12V, coil 9V. So it has a resistor, which is good, I don't want to risk anything. When cranked though and warmed up, the battery is about 14.34V, and the coil positive side is 11.34V, is that still OK? I put my hand on the ignition module and it's warm, but not hot, you can hold your fingers on it as long as you want.

So my next question. I had always planned to do this upgrade for my new 79 Wagoneer, but after reading about peoples failures, I got worried. I have all the parts, I would leave the resistor, I don't want to go HEI or anything. I am building a daily driver with this one, should I just return this stuff and stay stock? Is that more reliable?

Thanks!
David
