Question

I swapped to 360, I had to purchase a 4" "spacer" for tranny and longer output shaft since V8 would hit firewall without it. I purchased the spacer and shaft from BJ Jeep parts in Denver. I moved the outer support bracket for the crossarm forward 4 " to compensate for spacer and get clutch linkage to line up. I had to cut and bend the clutch push rod and release rod to get things to meet up. Now I have broken and bent the clutch push rod twice. Does anyone know if V8 clutch linkage is different than 6 linkage? I called BJ Jeep back and he told me the crossmember for the tranny should go in the rear frame holes with the V8 to make clutch linkage line up but that doesn't make sense to me as if I move the tranny back to rear holes I;ve just lost what I gained with the 4" tranny spacer and engine would be hitting the firewall again.

HELP PLEASE
