Sending unit pics
I know they changed the sending units in wagoneers sometime in the 80's. I have an 88 but was wondering if the pick up tube might be shorter in earlier models. could someone post a pic of the last design and one of the models before.

Plug the sender back into the wiring harness and make sure the ground is connected solid and then manipulate the float by hand while somebody watches the gauge. Its possible that the PO installed a unit that doesnt send the proper Ohms readings needed for your stock gauge, it was bumped when installed and its no longer properly calibrated, or the unit itself has dead spots on it.

If yours is a factory sending unit, it will look like the 1980-1985 sender. Jeep didn't change the look until 1990-1991 which is what you see in our webstore pics.
