molding clips for tailgate upper chrome trim

Decided to pull the chrome / stainless steel trim around the back of the tailgate, upon reinstallation, most of the clips are not holding on, any ideas are welcome. I may need new clips as the little claws seems to be unwilling to bend backward without breaking.

Why did I do this... to remove some rust between the roof and the trim.

Thank you

Thank you for the ressource, the search cannot locate 5142, a lot of specialty items, such as the clip that hold the side stainless trim on the small wood panelling of the 70's FSJ.

Not all of their items are in the catalog... I forgot these were not. I provided them a sample to match-up to. You would need to call if you decide to purchase from them. I made a visit to these folks... It's a huge well-organized never-ending warehouse of restoration parts. If you have any other hard-to-find parts... You can send them a sample and they will try to match it. Crist

In this catalog
www.restorationspecialties.com

When the search did not return any items for the number I scroll thru it. If you look around page 30-32 or 128-130, you should be able to locate the item.

W is the black tar-like sealant that Jeep used along with these clips? When I pulled my trim, it was one heck of a mess. It had some sort of "tar tape" on it. Any ideas?

I also tried re-using my old clips. Not a good idea. They failed to grab again after removal.
