It runs!!

Rich came over at 7:00PM and brought a friend from work, Sonny. We figured out that the turning over problem was a bad ground so I moved the grounds around and ran a wire from the solenoid to the battery to assure good ground.

After we fixed the ground, Sonny re-timed the distributor and reorganized the wires (right order, wrong position). We had to swap some wires for length issues. Turned it over and it shot gas out the back of the carb - duck taped for now. Turned it over again and shot out the EGR and another hole. More duck tape and a bolt. Turned it over - screwdriver to adjust throttle and she roared to life. It was a beautiful thing. Other than the oil that shot out all over the driveway because we forgot to plug a hole. When we turned it on we had a handful of rust and a rats nets fly out of each pipe.

Tomorrow Rich and I are going to get assorted plugs, bolts, and an EGR plate. Then we are going to hook all that up, hook up vacuum, and do the final timing adjustments.

Ignore my "Holy crap" face in the video. It is MUCH louder in person - hopefully new exhaust will quite it down a bit. Sounds goood though.
