Electric fuel pump q's (lines, filters, pump, mounting etc.)

Greetings fellow jeepers,

I had some questions for those of you who installed electric fuel pumps. Could any of you post photos if you have them. First I have an idea, I want to install an inline filter before the electric pump (The pump is external and will be mounted on the frame rail) and I want a filter after the electric pump. Do you think this is overkill? secondly what filters out there are supposed to be top notch? I want something that is really highly regarded and not just going on its name. lastly how did you all route the fuel lines? did you run them up into the engine bay and across to the engine carb and or tbi? or did you actually run them up and over the top of the transmission? (Wouldnt this create heat issues from the trans heating the lines up?) Where did you all mount your pumps etc? Alright fellow jeepers, any help will be appreciated so let the posting begin!!!

P.S. how did you hook the lines into the pump? did you simply use rubber hoses connected to the fuel line? or did you use braided hose? and the same thing for the connection to the TBI or carb. Or did you flare the ends of the hard line and connect directly to the TBI and the fuel pump?

My electric pump is just in front of the skid plate, on the frame rail. I have a filter before the pump...didn't think I'd really need another one after it since there's the big one by the carb. I ran my line sorta kinda stock, but I took it closer to the master cylinder and over instead of up the front side of the engine. Temporarily, unless I can't figure out a better place.

so yours runs up the frame rail and besides the master cylinder, then over to the engine components? Like over the side of the engine or possibly behind it and then up to where it need to be connected? (Overtop of the engine like oem)

Over the side and across the top. I can't say I really like it...I just like running it up by #1 exhaust less.

have you ever considered running it in the way that the 91-96 jeep cherokees are configured? they run it sort of up to a plate attached to the exhaust manifold then over to the Throttle body for the efi. I am looking into a setup like that.

On my Wagoneer I put a solenoid-type pump on the passenger-side frame rail by the rear axle. I chose that location because the stock fuel line is there. I put a filter before the pump; there's also a small one near the inlet to the carb. No other changes to the fuel line. I haven't had any feed issues with that setup.

On my Gladiator with the TBI 454 (not running yet) I put the pump on the driver's-side frame rail with a filter before the pump. I don't have a filter before the TBI. The stock Chevy fuel lines (supply and return, bent to fit my rig) run down the spine of the trans and break off to the side about halfway down. I hope this arrangement works...I think they'll be cooler than they would be if they ran right past the headers. I can't imagine the trans being hotter than the exhaust manifolds.

Edit: pic attached (orange hose is for OBA)
