I was putting it all together today, finally, and realized that enlarging the holes from my 44 bottom plate wouldnt work. It worked fine on my 14ff. So anyway, I need to come up with a plate to place oveer the top of my leafs, and send the ubolts through. Will just a thick gage, rectangled piece of plate work? Just drill out the ubolt holes and the centering pin hole. What do everyone else do? I dont want to run the ubolt downward, so must come up with something? Dennis

when my friend installed a ford d60 in his xj,he was able to reuse not only the plates,but the u bolts as well from his front 44. he hid have to do some clearancing on the driver side of the housing,tho it was minimal.

My D60 didn't come with plates. Had thick plate punched for the holes.

I was able to reuse my stock plates front and rear!! Infact I used the old sway bar mounts for new shock mounts..

I just went to a local fab shop and had them cut some 1/2" steel plate and drill holes in my specified locations. It doesn't look that spiffy, but I imagine the spring mounts would be ripped off the frame before my plate cracks.

Who cares if the U bolt plate looks like crap. All it has to do is serve its function. I love home fabrication.
