There are a few of us in CFSJA planning an outage in Moab for this date. EJS will be over and it will be less crowded. Krista and I are planning to camp at Sand Flats Rec Area beyond Dump Bump and Lion's Back. It is BLM with a fee and is close to some of the trails like Porcupine. We welcome other FSJers to be there too.
Last year we did the weekend after EJS and it was real nice. Some pix:

Flint, can you post a link or something with a map of that area. I've been thinking of heading to Utah at this time of Spring.
It is no where near my first time in that region, but mostly road cruising. I've done some really nice trails with my Kawasaki's out that way. My Van has seen some areas it should of never been able to get to.
Always wished I had my Dad's Honcho when I was out there.. How will my stock 81 J20 /super stiff springs on those trails you had in that link? Is there routes around the hard stuff.I've got to drive mine back to KY, along with a Willy's hopefully.

Tom... Map to Ouray in general? Or some detail to where trails are? There are not always routes around the hard stuff, depending on the trail. The first time I did Hells Revenge, it wasn't too difficult for me. Or I was lucky and picked all the right lines. Seems every time I have wheeled Moab since then I have picked up some rock rash on one trail or another though. Last year, we used Nate's 40" spare in the wedge to fill the gap enough to get a couple of the rigs across Golden Crack. I think it would be safe to say most places need at least 4" lift and a locker or 2. That is not to say you can't do some wheeling there tho...
Here is Red Rocks 4WD club page on trail descriptions:

I know it is THE big EJS this week, but some of us Colorado FSJers are still on for this gathering if anyone is interested in joining us there.

went EJS weekend (13-16) just nuts over there!
didn't hit too many trails due to leaking fuel tank, all vehicles full, no empty containers (with the exception of beer cans) so didn't drop tank to fix what turned out to be old repair on top of tank, thank u very much PO!
Did manage WipeOut and most of MetalMasher tho, it was fun to get away. Fri night wind blew bad but rest of time was good. Will see if I can get some pics or video up soon.
Will have to see about ordering tank from BJ's I guess. Don't think we will make it that weekend.

BY the way .. Those links you posted were what I was looking for. I found alot of info I was looking for. Also spent way to much time looking at the area from the satelite views..
Not going to make it this spring to Utah. Kinda sucks but improves the chance of a trip to Ouray now.

Schweet! I'm rarin' to go... took TC into a shop for chemical coolant flush, now sporting new juice with additive to run cooool in Moab, then headed over to Discount for tire rotate & balance (no more whuck-whuck-whuck-whuck on the hwy).
This Saturday's going to be busy... got another set of wheel bearings to swap, hoping to find/fix a bad oil leak, would like to get the PS pump shaft leak fixed. Hoping to run a trail and field test the OBA reconfig + ARB. Then a few little things in the days before departure...
No rock flex pics tho.

T-minus 14 hours and counting for me .
I got some spare driveshafts on Sunday, got'em mounted in PVC tubes on the roof. I figure since I have a hard time NOT breaking u-joints on the trail, I'll just swap the whole shaft if I need to. Got my dozer fixed (new and improved if you as me) http://community.webshots.com/album/549656672dxcLOR
Emma tested it and gave it her approval. She's excited about the trip as well.
See you guys on the slickrock
Matt
