Does anyone know if there's a way to change the shift point from first to second without changing the second to third shift? When towing, it shifts to second too soon and the RPM is too low. The shift to third is okay, so I don't want to change the throttle linkage if there's another way. Just curious, when does everyone have their shifts happen? When not loaded or heavy on the gas, mine shifts around 15-20 for second and 40 for third.

Just be careful when adjusting the kickdown linkage. If you get it too tight, your tranny won't last long. It's hard on 'em to be too tight. I think the factory calls for about 1.5" of travel overall, and 1/4" of slack at carb idle, but you might want to double-check this, since it's been awhile for me.

Additionally, if you really want your shifts to be different, you'll probably need to install a manual valve body.

I already have a shift kit (RV/Heavy Duty). I do occasionally shift it manually, but I try not to make a habit of it. I got the shift points where they are by adjusting the carb. to trans. linkage.
