79 Chief in need of a diagnostic

Hey all,
Finally took the dive and bought a jeep, a nice old rusty orange and black chief with a great sounding engine. She needs a lot of work though, from the looks, and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good shop to take her to that would give me a list of things I would probably miss, especially since I'm mostly clueless when it comes to carburetors.
Thanks in advance!

Edit: I'm in the DFW area (Arlington)

First of all, Howdy neighbor.

I think most of us work on our own vehicles, but I could be wrong. I have had my first FSJ for about 9 months now. Been working on it slowly as money becomes available. A TSM and a Factory Parts manual will be well worth the money if you plan on working on your own Jeep(s).

I do not know or use an mechanics in the north Texas area. At least not yet.

Oh, and the best looking Jeep does little for you if it is always broken down. I would fix all of the mechanical issues before moving onto a lift or body work. Unless of course money is no object and you can pay to fix them all at once.

That's exactly what I'm doing, inside then out. Get 'er running first. I'm going to be working on it myself, but I just wanted a second opinion, you know.
It already has a spring lift, not sure how tall or how to measure it, though, to be honest. I was a glorified parts changer (mechanic) in the Army for a while, but I'll admit I know next to nothing about modding and hot-rodding... so this will be a learning experience for me. I have a chilton's so that should come in handy...
Anyway thanks for the response. I'll post a pic when I get another camera (wife spilled Dr Pepper on mine... her butt knocked it right off the tray table!)
