I will second Tim's remarks about the Holley 2300. I had one on one of my CJs and it was absolutely horrible off road.

It would flood terribly on any kind of incline or bumpy area. I tried all of the fixes...spring loaded needles and seats....baffles etc. Nothing worked.

What did actually work for the inclines was spinning the carb around 180 degrees and mounting it backwards. With the bowl on the rear of the carb the fuel couldn't slosh in going up hill. Going down hill was another story though...however it's easier to keep it going in a flooding condition while traveling down hill;->

It did work fine on the street. But that rig hasn't seen the street in a number of years now

Anyway I went to a Holley Projection TBI and have never looked back. I've flopped that Jeep a few times since and have to remember to turn the motor off

I have a Holley Truck Avenger on another CJ that works great off road...that won't help you though as they only make em with 4 barrels.

fuel injection would be nice, but I don't think there is a conversion for the AMC 327 is there?

Hmmm...well I'm not sure exactly but the universal Holley Projection which I used (I think the part number is 502-20s) is a two barrel throttle body. It's designed to work with a 4 barrel manifold though. You might check with Holley about the efficiency of running it with a two barrel manifold. I'm assuming it's possible to set up that way but might not be worth your while.

A Ford CFI throttle body plops right on in place of the 2V Holley. You could use that with the MegaSquirt and have fuel injection. Or use the Chevy throttle body with an adapter.

It can be done, but it would require some reading and learning and effort.
