Is the QT obsolete (now that they are no longer making the drive chain or the emergency drive vacum shifter)? I have one in the jeep with low range and one in the garage with low range. Just curious if I will have to look at swapping transfer cases in the future due to lack of parts for the QT.

Obsolescence comes gradually. For some people, that are willing to put aside good parts or don't drive enough to wear out the parts they have or have the resources to make the parts they need, such things are never obsolete.
You'll have to decide what you are willing to accept in terms of parts and service. There's no direct replacement for the BW13xx, so any replacement with a different case will require time, effort and money.Tim Reese

Yep, support is tapering off. Get at least one spare chain and seal kit to keep you going for a while. If you need a chain now, buy 2.Flint

Stock up on parts, or swap it out, whichever, I personally went the swap route, 241C with a couple special parts, and some bench time to rebuild the tranny and swap tail shafts, it was a bolt in deal into the truck. (i.e. I can swap back and forth between a Th-400 Q-trak, setup and this setup using the same stock flex-plate/mounts, in the same time it would take to R&R a stock unit .. (Drive lines have to be swapped also)

If you are refering to the 241C it is not upside down, tilted a few degrees, but not more than ~7-> 10 degrees from how GM mounted them.

I would like to keep the stock drivetrain. That's why I got another QT with low range. Looks like I'll be stocking up on parts and running it. The Qt worked great this past winter in the freak snow storm we had hear in N AL.MadMax78
