So what's it gonna be? Is it set up to swivel in the middle? I'm sure whatever you've got planned will be epic, just like the 6x6Zack - 68 J2000, AMC 327, 4bbl intake, dual exhaust, Pertronix upgrade, Holley 600cfm, T18, dana 20 (twin sticked), 3" body lift w/ 35x12.50 MTRs ~ running AND driving!

oooooh, what can it be for? Is the 6x6 going to be sold to make room for this project?

I find it interesting that I too have been working on such a project. I had a design much like yours but I couldn't commit myself to separating the frame near it's most loaded point. I am now building a touque limiting sub-frame instead.FSJ Hybrid build thread: http://www.shopfloortalk.com/forums/...ad.php?t=43332

Keep in mind that the swivel completely eliminates all torsional loads (articulation).
Got any photos of your setup?1969 M715 6x6

Other than parts for the assembly jig I have nothing tangible at this point.Last edited by threepiece; 04-25-2013, 04:08 AM.FSJ Hybrid build thread: http://www.shopfloortalk.com/forums/...ad.php?t=43332

Yes, this is what drew me to the design in the first place however it was dealing with the high vertical bending moment that I could not get comfortable with. It looks like you may have accommodated that issue. I suspect you intend to use this truck in a way that differes from mine.
It looks like you have tapered roller bearings and a lock-out feature?

I couldn't find tapered roller bearings small enough that had the necessary thrust and radia loading capacities, so I went with a combo of cylindrical needle roller bearings and thrust bearings. The cylindrical needle bearings have a static capacity of 65,000 lbs and the thrust bearings 55,000. If I lifted the (loaded) truck from the swivel, it would still be within the acceptable loading range. The entire assembly is sealed and will be filled with gear oil.1969 M715 6x6

I was actually thinking of this (below) but flipped on the joint axis for suspension purposes. I studied Mechanical Tech in college so I know what he is getting at. I however could never fabricate something like it!
