Did some cleaning up tonight in the engine bay to get ready to put the cummins in on Friday.

The build has switched directions a little. Origionally I was going to put Dana 60 front and 14 bolt rear. I started searching around and came across some unimog axles. So I bought one last wknd and going to get the other one this wknd.

The thing that got me to get them was the price and the factory locker. They are the 419 axles with a ratio of 6.5. Yeah I won't be running down the drag strip. It was a good deal. Buying ton axles and putting selectable lockers in them would be double or triple what I have in these.

Also going to do 4 link front and rear. I have the shocks in my head and may change so I won't explain. It will be different.

Got the engine placed. Not bolted in yet. Just sitting on blocks. Need to take out the heater box.

            Drivers side:

No interference on the drivers side:

Passenger side. Heater box will get removed and either redone or find a under dash replacement:

Sway bar is in the way. It's getting removed anyway:

Engine will get droped down another 3-5 inches.

That 6 is a HUGE engine! I had to get a body lift just to get close to closing my hood.

It's really not that bad. It's a little longer but not as wide. I think it's a perfect match. It's all in the finess.

You got pics of yours or a link to it?

Found this exhaust manifold while surfing around. Should be able to move the turbo closer to the front away from the heater box. Would have to flip it upside down. Sure they make one that points down. Otherwise I could hack to stock one up and modify it.

What size tire do you plan to use with these? Even with 40's, 70mph would be top speed with the 6BT screaming. Maybe an overdrive box after the NV4500

Why would I want to go over 70? 60-65 is plenty. 40-42 tire. Haven't decided.

Got the engine set down pretty much where it will sit. Need to get the tranny on before I can make the mounts and lock it in. Had to remove the heater box and a few other things to get it to fit. Will work on final placement this week. Here are some shots of the engine.

While I was taking the heater box out decided to go ahead and rip the carpet out. No surprise I knew it was there. Will need some replacement floor pans. Anyone know the best place to get them?
