Wow! I just visited your Yeti thread. Now I can't wait to see what you have in mind for this build.

With a lot of frame re-enforcing. I've cut up enough 60's FSJs..the frame steel is like butter. Spring over later D44s will require SUF conversion..take a peek at my build link in my sig. A dodge Dana 60 rear should be a nice upgrade for the rear in the Wag.

Are you saying that newer (let's say late 70's to the end) model FSJ have better steel in their frames?

That iss why I am using everything from the frame down from the 77 Wagoneer that had the 401 in it. its essentially a 64 body on a 77 frame and chassis. With some good motor mounts it will be just fine.

              NICE!
I've got a van very similar to that one
              It's a 93 GMC 3500 extended length that is powered by a lowly 6.2 and backed by a 4L80E
The only windows it has is two in the rear doors and two in the side doors
(and the normal windows in the passenger doors and windshield of course.)

It's 6.2 does not have huge amounts of power, but is real easy on fuel.

Thanks for the motivation! Wow your build really motivates me!! very well thought out!!! Thanks for the positive words for mine! I would love to put a 12v 6bt in my van, and get rid of all the computer modules, but....that would be to much, thus the 4bt in wagoneer plan, better turning radius, more reliable, better mileage, and limits my packing!! Ile just keep the Yeti around for pulling and recovery.

                  Thanks for the compliment.

Yep, all the way around this will be a much better "Go anywhere Expeditionary rig" than my pick up. I needed to build something that would be a good all around retirement truck for daily driving, working around property, rarely towing my 5th wheel, and other possible heavy lifting duties. My truck would serve as a good expedition rig, but not a truly great one.
