I just found a stock set of chrome wheels. They are in great shape. Almost like new take offs. that were stored for the last 40 years.

            Shiny!

Those really look great, nice find. You, Al, and the other Pacific Northwesters always seem to find the coolest rigs and parts. Too cool!

I have some time off in the following week. I'm hoping to possibly get it to my house. I have a couple of pics of the front bumper in the mean time.

Yeah, That grass is pretty green and getting long. I assume you are North and have a bit of snow covering the ground still.

My plan is (if it all works out) I'm getting it towed to my place tomorrow, and I'll store my 91 xj out at his place.

I just couldn't bring myself to crawl under it in the wet grass to pull the gas tank. I can get it up a bit with my jackstands and they wont sink into mud. I want to get it pulled and cleaned out, pull and swap the intake. I'd like to get it at least running soon.

What are some recommendations for some good rust penetrating spray. I've used PB Blaster with some luck, but wanted some other ideas. I'm thinking about all of the hardware under the body. u bolts, spring shackle bolts etc...

I wanted to start hitting it with spray once every couple of days for 2 weeks or so.

A mix of acetone and ATF (50/50) usually works pretty well. The big economy-size PB blaster isn't bad either, but the mix is cheaper. Good luck.

I'm going through some ideas for wheels. I have some white factory wheels, and of course the chrome ones. I think I like the white ones better.

isn't it funny that a used, decades old jeep Cherokee

looks better as is,.... than anything new on the car lots?

I really like the color contrast. I'm really not sure what direction I'm going with the wheels yet.

I found a super cheap 6" spring lift on fb marketplace. So i installed the front springs yesterday.

I did manage to get the intake and valve covers off so I could see how clean things are. I have some questions about the cam lobe colors. looks copper, right?

Also the rust really is not as bad as I thought. I have factory pans to replace mine with. I don't think the rockers are rusted, just the floor pan.

Those white spoke wheels look just right, IMHO. Newer wheels on older vehicles just suck all the cool vintage character out of the whole combination. Again, in my opinion.

There's no copper to speak of in a cam lobe or a lifter that I know of (corrections are welcome if anyone else knows better) so that's probably more like flash rust and oil discoloration.
