A cluster in deed but it is not under the dash where it is harder to get to. I talked to Speedhut but they told me that if I wanted a trans temp gauge I would have to get a standard round gauge. They didn't have a cluster with trans temp in it, or at least not how I wanted it.

I tried my best to keep all the wire colors as close to factory as possible so if in the future I need to track something down I wasn't chasing my tail with wiring color changes.

That crappy dash pad cost me a lot of time and grief. I was ready to burn it.

Lol. I'm working on a new dash for mine and I'm eliminating the dash pad.

I know what you mean about the trans gauge. I had to buy the round one. I haven't gotten into the wiring yet. Should be fun.

Well I have not gotten much done lately due to several other projects going on. I cannot wait to get back to the Wag.

I did pretty much finish the dash up, got the glove box door installed and radio in the dash. I'll have to get a pic of the dash complete.

My next major hurdle is the console, so far it's been a PITA.

Next after that will be the AC and then to an interior guy I found to do the headliner and console covering and maybe door panels. Still riding the fence on which way to go on door panels.

So many decisions, so little time.

I have been way to busy lately on other things that have fallen apart but finally got back to the Jeep. And of coarse I went to update the thread with the progress and apparently my browser is out of date and I can't log into my photo account without an update. I guess windows 1974 just won't work anymore. Guess I have one more thing to fix.

I have been looking at everyone's progress on their projects and you guys have been busy!

Managed to get a couple, OK maybe several, burn outs accomplished and will have to get a video. My back tires are already slightly smaller and the wife reminds me about the cost of tires. Luckily no parts have flown out the bottom yet.

As soon as I get the new computer home, I will try to get a video posted. Pick it up tomorrow.

I have gotten some more work done also. Mostly finished the wiring under the console, AC box is in along with the condenser out front. It has to got to the local AC shop Wednesday to custom make the AC hoses. Trying now to get the Dakota digital cruise all wired up and working. Got the carpet in and waiting on new door and interior panels to show up.

I'll get some pics up as soon as I can.

Also the console is being covered now by the guy doing my interior stuff. I'm still not convinced about my console being ok. But it is what it is at this point. At least it is something I can remove and change later.

Got the new computer home and tried to login into my photo account. Couldn't cause it was asking me to login thru a Yahoo account, I don't have a Yahoo account. Flickr has been migrating away from the Yahoo login so I have to wait till they tell me how to login. Frustrating to say the least. I'm technology deficient so that don't help.

Have managed to get about 275 miles on the Jeep lately around town and nothing has flew out yet. Not a lot of miles I know but I haven't exactly been easy on it.

I put my stock pulley on the crank so when I take it to the AC shop tomorrow it will pull more air thru the radiator and condenser and speed up the AC compressor. Sitting in traffic with the stock pulley it definitely runs cooler. Hasn't gotten above 180.

I'll hopefully have AC just in time for Winter.

Kick panels were junk and I finally stumbled onto an easy cheap fix. Found these shoe/boot mats at Wally World and cut them out for kick panels.

Door panels came in yesterday. Going to get the console in after AC is complete and then start on rest of the interior. Get seats recovered, door panels done, then headliner. Getting close to getting the big stuff done. Then back track to more little stuff.

Cut them with sheet metal shears and/or a razor knife. They have a flat finish to them which makes them great cause they are going to get scuffed up. I think they are durable enough to take the punishment and not get all marked up.

And the price was right. I thought I could get 2 out of one tray but nope. 2 trays required.

Looking at this photo made me realize something. I painted the bottom side of the vent holes so you wouldn't see brown but it was upside down when I painted it so I painted the top side that you can't see. A touch up might be in order. It also looks all mottled up but I don't think it does looking at it in person. Weird.

I was seriously concerned about the looks of the console when I first started on it and even right till the very end I wasn't sure. It looks like it does mostly due to the necessity of all the wiring and gizmos that were added to run all the crap that was added. We wanted arm rest on the seats so that meant a flat console and the 4x4 shifter also meant it had to be wider at the front. Not to mention, everything had to be easily accessible to be able to get to the electrical stuff.

One of the other concerns were that if the AC had to come out, I didn't want to take half a day to remove the console to take out the AC. It doesn't take but a few minutes to remove a couple screws to lift the console out and around all the wiring and gizmos mounted on a dedicated board if the AC has to come out.
The front top cover will pop off to quickly access the wiring and fuses.

Well here it is, like it or not, it is what it is. It looks a bunch better than I originally thought it would. We spent a long time looking at different materials and colors but decided this was the best. The black carbon fiber material even has a grey look to match the dash when the light hits it at an angle.

The console kept getting higher and higher due to the carpet, padding and console wrap so I ended up having to raise the 4x4 knob up some. Took a 3/8's coupler and put it in the lathe and turned it down to not be not so square-ish. Need to finish cleaning it up but it seems to look good.

                              IMG_20191018_163820361 by , on Flickr

I need to polish the shifter trim rings and we are going to make the shifter boot out of, well not sure yet. This whole console thing has been a big PITA.

We went and picked up the Wag today from the AC shop today because they haven't finished it and the guy that is working on it only works 3 days a week. Will take it back next week to be finished.

But they did manage to put a big crack in the AC box right in front of the passenger seat. Not happy to say the least!
