    Grinding headers for head bolts?

Anyone else have this problem? I've always used headmans!
304s,360s, seem to fit. But both my 401s I had to extend the notch around
Head bolts! The one with head studs, and heads cut .060, a bunch?
I even ground the stud ends and nuts flat on the 3 that are problem!
Gaskets still seal, but I stay after them, for 500 miles or so. I retighten @50 mile runs.
Ive tried different brands, but headman work best for me.

On my Hedmans and 401 I run Remflex gaskets and the crappy Hedman hardware. I usually hang the header with one hand and start one of the center bolts finger tight. Then I do the one to the front, the one on the very back (all only 2 or 3 turns) then the rest. I have not had to grind anything. Once they are all started I snug them in with an open ended wrench and lastly torque them with a deflection type torque wrench. I need to use a short extension with a swivel head/wobble head or whatever it is called to get the socket on. I have not had to grind anything. The Remflex gaskets are AMAZING. I torque them once and never again. Never had one leak, either.

The heads and head bolts are the same between the 360 and 401.
There are 2 slightly different styles of head bolts. One has a more rounded top than the other.

I use 3/8 head, SS header bolts, their still a pain to start by the dog leg notch.
Gotta start the m all,a turn or 2, before any are tightened.
I've never tried that remflex gasket. If any of mine leak, I'll give them a try.
