If you do the chrome thing... Be sure your shop-folks understand the bumpers are anodized aluminum and require a base-coat of copper. If so... You should be good to go!
As far as cost... Labor is a factor. If the prep-work goes well, then the cost is dependent of the amount of repair(s) needed.
Keep us posted on your progress!

Will the anodizing polish up? I hit a small spot with a rag and some chrome polish on mine and it didn't seem to make much of a difference. Paint cam out good though.

It's my original anodized aluminum grill... I was fortunate that I little chrome-cleaner and wax was all it needed. The headlamp-surrounds are NOS. And the black decals are reproductions.

Crist, is that the anodized aluminum grille frame? If it is, how did you strip it and shine it up?

i just got my bumpers back. I have been way too lazy, means busy..., to polish them myself. Also, i don´t want to know what i breath in getting the anodizing off!
End of story, i am really really happy with the result:
Now, please - somebody send me the plastic nerfs NOS, or in reasonable condition..... :-(
