Dodge Dakota Extended Cab Seat Installation

I salvaged two seats from a 1997 Dodge Dakota extended cab truck. I was skeptical at first as to whether or not they were a direct bolt-in.

    They are.

However, the Dodge seat tracks do not fit the Jeep seat-to-floor support braces. The Dodge tracks are too short and do not line up with the Jeep support braces.

Too start, remove the four Torx head bolts from the Dodge seats (two from each seat track). Remove the seat tracks and latch rod release mechanism. Dispose. Keep the Torx head bolts! I kept the quick-release seat belt buckle latch from the Dodge seat. Grind and remove the single rivet attaching it to the seat track.

Remove the Jeep seat tracks and latch rod release mechanism from the seats. Mine had two round spacers on the front of each seat track. Keep them.

Install the Jeep seat tracks, the two round spacers, the Jeep latch rod release mechanism, the Dodge seat belt quick-release buckle, with the Torx head bolts onto the Dodge seats.

Install the seat-to-floor support braces onto the Dodge seats.

Install the entire Dodge seat assembly to the floor pan.

Nice work! Do the seats tilt forward enough to allow access to the rear in a two door vehicle?

Yes. Here are some more pics of the passenger seat I installed.

      1. Seat slid all the way back
      2. Seat slid all the way forward
      3. Seat full tilt forward (It can recline all the way back)
      4. Both latches operate the tilt mechanism!

Looks good. I'm always interested in options to replace my '84 low backs.

Pretty good condition for a ten year old seat. How's the other one?

Looks like it sits a little higher than the stock seat???

How about a side by side picher of the two before you put the other one in if it isn't too late?
        Sic friatur crustulum

'84 GW with Nissan SD33T, early Chev NV4500, 300, narrowed Ford reverse 44, narrowed Ford 60, SOA/reversed shackle in fornt, lowered mount/flipped shackle in rear.

Note the Dodge quick-release seat belt buckle latch. I will be removing the Jeeps floor mounted quick-release seat belt buckle latches.

Not perfect but a huge improvement for comfort. Total price was $19.99 each.

Thank you for you excellent write up with great pictures of the final install and seat articulation. I been thinking about this seat option myself in my Cherokee.

Removed the broken drivers seat belt latch. Installed one from a 2001 dodge. And it was 2 inches longer!
